Summary of FL3DMS FTF Meeting 2025

Summary of FL3DMS FTF Meeting 2025

Last week, industry leaders gathered in-person for the FL3DMS Face-to-Face (FTF) meeting, hosted by USPI. Members from across the energy, engineering, and digital solutions sectors came together to refine and advance the FL3DMS standard – shaping the standard for the way 3D data is structured, shared, and handed over across the asset lifecycle.

With representatives from TotalEnergies, Shell, McDermott, Aker Solutions, Fluor, Wood PLC, TechnipEnergies, Gizil, Hexagon, Aveva, ReVision, Mitosis Digital Technologies, xclerate and USPI’s standardization partners IOGP, Standards Norway and DEXPI,  the working group made significant progress on Release 1.3, which is scheduled for Q4 2025.

Key focus areas included:

  • Requirements for embedding Skid and Equipment models from vendors into the plant’s 3D model

  • Definition of requirements for Integrity Management

  • Enhancing the clarity and usability of As Built & Handover Requirements

  • Establish a 3D Data model in alignment with CFIHOS and DEXPI

  • Aligning 3D Model Engineering Deliverables with CFIHOS

  • Developing an Implementation Guide for principals

  • Strengthening marketing, branding, and outreach strategies for broader adoption

Evolving FL3DMS alongside with CFIHOS, DEXPI and other standardization bodies means a continuous enablement for more efficient and intelligent project delivery and asset operations through digital transformation.

A big thank you to everyone who contributed to the discussion, shared insights, and took ownership of the next steps. Your expertise and collaboration are what continue to drive the success of this initiative.

Looking ahead: Keep an eye out for FL3DMS R1.3 and the Implementation Guide coming in Q4 2025.
